Harvard professors on disease-pathogen correlation

Dr. Stephan Lory, microbial and molecular genetics professor at Harvard University, aims to understand the molecular basis of pathogenesis of human infections caused by opportunistic gram-negative bacteria.

Lory’s research explores host-parasite relationship using P. aeruginosa  model allowing examination of a variety of bacterial factors that lead to colonization, persistence and resistance to host defenses.  Dr. S. Lory et al published an article discovering a correlation between Pseudomonas aeruginosa and polymicrobial bronchopulmonary infections in cystic fibrosis (CF).
